1. Introduction

The PDF of this document is available |HERE|.

This document is a course supplement: it is not a complete course. Further study requires the assistance of an instructor, and a number of topics have not been covered.

However, students will find information here that will allow them to work independently most of the time. It may still contain errors: any constructive suggestions are welcome at serge.tahe@istia.univ-angers.fr.

  1. J2EE Programming, published by Wrox and distributed by Eyrolles
  1. Java Server Pages (Fields, Kolb), published by Eyrolles
  2. Java Servlet Programming (Hunter), published by O'Reilly

Much of the information in this handout is drawn from Reference 1, whose content (1,000 pages) far exceeds that of the handout.

While sufficient for an introduction to Java web programming, this document could be improved by adding the following important topics:

  • XML programming
  • JSP tags
  • EJB (Enterprise Java Beans)
